Default Texas Scallions

What are they? I bought a few in an Italian Grocery Store around here that sells lots of produce and never heard of them. Actually, they just look like great big ole white onions with green tops on them. Is it just a marketing ploy renaming white onions?

Young 1015's. They are popular, as the flavor is so sweet.
