Default Reimer Seeds

Has anyone ordered from Reimer Seeds? They are not on the rec list. It is the only place I can find that sells both Northern Star Pepper and Nepal tomato seed. Thanks for any input.

I think Reimer Seeds is best known for liberating their variety photos from the SSE, TomatoBase, Victory Seeds, and pretty much every other website they find through Google. Not sure about their seeds.

I've never ordered from them, but some of their product descriptions are incorrect. For example, they list Manalucie tomato as a hybrid, and it isn't a hybrid.

I've only bought a few tomato seeds from them and they were always fast and the seeds were true. I do know that I have had great luck with a Brussels sprout variety called Bubbles and some good broccoli varieties that they carry. I will continue to use them til they give me reason not to.

Kevin
And this is precisely why they aren't on our list.

I bought some seeds from them last Spring and they did very well....quick service too.
However, after viewing that link and hearing the stories from other folks on this site, I don't think I will roll the dice again with them.

I've ordered Snow Berry tomatoes from them for the past 3 or 4 years and always received prompt service and the seeds have had a 90+% germination.

i placed an order through reimer seeds and thought i'd share my experience.

i ordered 5 packs of tomato seeds and then read so many bad reviews, all i could do was hope my order was successful.

my order came very quickly in a nice padded envelope. in that was a bag filled with a bunch of paper envelopes. so with seeds in hand the next thing to look at was seed count

seed count
beef master, black cherry, choc cherry, big beef all had between 30-60 seeds. i couldnt believe it. the cherries may have even had more than that. i was very pleased with the high seed count

the momotaro was right around 20

i decided to do a quick germination test since i had so many extra seeds to play around with. i did the paper towel method and kept the seeds around 80 degrees. its been 5 days
germination
beef master 1/2
black cherry 3/4
chocolate cherry 4/4
big beef 3/3
momotaro 2/2

assuming all the seeds i got are true to there name i am extremely happy with reimer seeds.

Garf gave me a packet of Brandywine Sudduths from Reimer Seeds at the plant swap,2 of 3 germinated but only 1 formed true leaves. I planted it, it grew well, and the tomato it produced ripened to a BRIGHT YELLOW!
Then I went to Dave's Garden and saw the overwhelming negative reviews....

I ordered from Reimer in the past. No better or worse than any on-line seller. You pays your money and takes your chances. I don't remember anything particularly irritating about the seeds received, but this is possible since I don't pay much attention and only grow a few plants for home use. It might be of concern if I was growing in quantity for the retail market.

Now I will grant that unhappy people may be more likely to submit reviews than people who were simply satisfied and some people are natural complainers but come on! Negative feedback of >60% . And that's not being skewed by a small sample either. That's from 115 people. When the reviewer only has three choices that sample size is more than adequate and the result is undoubtedly significant! Ther's something ging on there...
