Default Dragons Tongue Beans

In the spirit of trying all heirlooms this year I thought id give these a try. I found them at SeedSavers.com . An unusual looking wax bean, white/green/and white with red stripes.

The plants are similar to a Blue Lake bush beans, and so far very prolific.

Anyway I picked a batch tonight , snapped them, cut up a Texas super sweet onion, added some baco s : ( I used all the bacon in blts )
added a little real butter, and cooked them up. Heavenly
Excellent flavor and texture. I will be growing this one again next year!

If you haven't grown these before, I recommend you give them a try.

I grew these last year. They were beautiful and the flavor was excellent! Unfortunately, I lost them to disease before they really started pumping out beans. The taste alone definitely warrants a re-grow though!

Wally,

I'm confused about your color description.

Dragon Tongue (a.k.a. Dragon Langerie) pods have always been yellow with purple streaks, for me. Just like the picture in your following post.

I agree with excellent flavor, excellent texture, and will add that it has excellent production.

I think I picked the first few a little early. The last batch I picked were larger and closer to the color you described. I was not sure how big to let them get. I picked this last batch larger than blue lake beans and they were very tender. I like these beans a lot.
