Default in the news: herbicides may affect antibiotic resistance

A recent study found that several different herbicides, at concentrations similar or less than typically used, caused mutations in pathogenic bacteria which enable drug resistance:

Since pathogenic bacteria and antibiotic resistence is something I know a lot about I just did a Google search, read a bit and have to go back to read more when I can.

Actually based in Canada where you are from.

Here is my Google search

I am not familiar with the "efflux pump gene" or whether it plays a role in the known cases of multi-drug resistance as we commonly understand to be caused by exposure to the drugs themselves over time.

I know there is concern about resistant bacteria in food products because of overuse in agriculture. I guess if there is exposure to herbicide in the feed as well, it would contribute to the same risks.
