Oops - are these seeds done for?
Well, I sent out a day or two ago to fill in some gaps in my bean rows. Unfortunately, what I didn't do is bring all the packets of bean seeds back inside (oops).
So my fortex packet got rained on. I poured the beans out, and they really don't seem very wet. It was a paper packet, but seems sort of water resistant. I won't try to use these next year, but if I need some to fill in, do you think they will dry out ok? Or, will they have wanted to germinate, and be dead?

They will probably be fine after you dry them out. Bean seeds have a hard seed coat and it would take awhile in contact with water to hydrate them.
If you are going to use them down the road, use the paper towel/coffee filter method to test for germination. For bean seeds, I would soak them in water overnight first. Any seeds that sprout you can plant right in the ground and they will grow just fine. |

Thanks. There aren't that many, and I will just get new seeds next year. I just hoped these were viable, to fill in gaps where needed.
