Anybody with knowledge of Cherokee Black??
Anybody with knowledge of Cherokee Black?(maybe Black Brandywine (I'll check my references))?? What I'm seeing from a fruit is a very large pear shape, the foliage is potato leaf. (I'll post pictures w/ a reference to size tomorrow).
I'm growing too many varieties this year.... --Sharon |

Sharon, I've never heard of a Cherokee Black.
Please check your records to see if what you have is Black Brandywine. Black Brandywine is the result of an accidental cross between Brandywine and an unknown black. For quite a few folks it's still genetically unstable and what you'll get is an RL plant with fruits that look like Black from Tula and a PL plant that as Craig put it, is a bag of seeds. But I don't recall Craig describing the shape of the PL bag of seeds one. How/why did you come up with Cherokee Black as a possibility? All the Cherokees, Cherokee Purple, Cherokee Chocolate and Cherokee Green, and even the oder commercial variety Cherokee, are all RL. The only PL Cherokee is one called Cherokee Purple Potato Leaf that arose in Jere Gettles garden and those who have grown it do not consider it to be just a PL mutation of Cherokee Purple. So please do check your records on what you planted and share that with us. Thanks.
