Leeks are Tough
I've been growing leeks for several years and have not had tough leeks like this year. What would cause the leeks to be tough? I usually wait until he end of the growing season to harvest and have not had this problem in the past.

Temperature fertilizer and lack of enough water could all cause this.
Just a wild guess as I have never grown a leek in my life. Worth |

My only guess would be the weather. Did you have hot days and abnormally cool nights this summer?

We did have an unusually cool month of August and it has been very dry since.
I don't fertilize very much so any or all of the reasons might apply. Potato an leek soup is on the menu where I use the blender for the soup. |

Yes I see where the slow growth could cause this.
