Exciting News new Pro Mix Website
New website to me at least. Many new products, one especially formulated for container vegetables and herbs. I hope they make it for sale on a more widespread scale than just the hydro stores. Website said it wasn't available before even I put my location in. Report back at first sighting !
FYI the website had a pop upwanting permission to identify my physical location - I would have agreed if it helps to distribute their product but I chose not to until the purpose is explained www.newpromix.com http://www.newpromix.com/en/pro-mix-...b-growing-mix/ the first link isn't working, the next is direct |

Looks promising - but their products are sometimes difficult to find out West. Something similar that I am trialing this Season is Sunshine Advanced Mix #4:

I was able to purchase the Pro Mix in the green and white bag, 1 cubic ft. bale compressed at my local gardening store on March 1 and paid $5 for it.

I am using pro mix for the first time to repot my plants. It will be interesting. Sunshine mix #4 is an excellent product, but way too much medium for one season for me.
I love your avatar DogsandDirt. Is the dog a pit bull mix? Looks a lot like one of my guys. Alex

Farmette,
Wow! That is an outstanding price. Out here in CA. Pro-Mix BX sells for $40.00 for a 3.8 cu. ft. bale - - over $10.00 per cu. ft. You got one heck of a deal for an excellent looking product. Raybo |

Ray, I do think it was a great deal...I think it was on sale...$1 off per bag, hence the $5.

One of the local feed stores in my area has the 3.8 cu ft. Bales for $25. |

Pro-mix is good, but Ray is right. It usually cost me forty or so for a compressed bale. The Sunshine mix is good but much more expensive in my area. I am using Metro-Mix 380 for the first time and not sure how I feel about it just yet. I do like the fact you don't have to pre-moistend it.

Ray, If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get that 6 cu ft bale for?

Rob,
I REALLY hate false advertising. I thought the folks who make the Sunshine Mix series were above boards - after all, they are Canadian! Turns out that when you wet the Advanced Mix #4 as you would ordinarily do in a container - it "returns" to the same size. Specifically, 3.0 cubic feet. Kind of like a feather pillow which sits on the bed at 12 inches thickness. Lay your head on it and it goes down to a "working height" of 6 inches. I think their claim of "fluffing up to 6 cubic feet" is totally irrelevant - - who ever uses it in the dry, fluffed up condition? Good product - - but very deceptive advertising printed on their bag. Raybo p.s. I pay about $36.00 at South Bay Hydroponics in San Jose. |

Is the PRO-MIX Vegetable and Herb Mix the new name for Pro-Mix BX? I can't find any references on the site to BX.
I did, however, find a retailer within 10 miles of me. Woohoo! |
