My first ever tomatoes!

I feel like its been a long time coming but these are the first ever tomatoes I've grown... Actually this is the first year I've grown anything so it's been a test of patience and a leap of faith that anything actually would grow - the summer here in the UK has been not so good but the greenhouse helps a lot.

I've never really eaten much except for store bought toms either so I'm amazed with the flavor of the Sun gold ones!

the 2 in the middle are Stupice and are off the same plant so I'm not sure what happened to the larger one ?!? and it's in the 2nd picture from a more revealing angle

the bottom 7 came from a Suffolk Herbs packet and are just called Red Cherry

I have quite a few bigger ones on an Aunt Rubys GG and a Beefmaster plant but they are all distinctly unripe - I guess if I'm only just starting to get cherry's then I might have some time to wait yet

AlilltleSalt - they do indeed, although I wish I ate the Stupice before the Sun Gold as in comparison it tasted quite bland, but the Red Cherry's are good and way better than anything I can buy

PhilaGardener - it's the best - it feels like its been a lot of work to get to this stage but from the amount of fuit ripening on the plants it's looking like it'll be tomato everything for the rest of summer!

BigVanVader - I completely agree, I've spent too much of my free time this year planning what I'm going to do next year already - looks like that's me for the next 30-40 years

Congratulations Darren!! Nice job..They look wonderful! It is such a good feeling to grow and nurture your babies, and then to be able too taste the fruits from that labor of love. This is only the beginning for you, and we at TVille will enable you profusely.. Hahaha..

Keep an eye on ARGG to make sure you pick it at the ripe time, since it stays green when ripe.. It should be firm but just barely soft to touch when gently squeezed... It is a really good green fruit, and one of my favorites!!

You are right, there's such a satisfaction to know that a few months I was putting a few seeds in a pot and now I'm picking tomatoes off a plant that is taller than I am

I have wondered about my ARGG - they are like rocks at the moment, but I'm hoping that they'll start ripening at the same time as some of my big red tomatoes to give me an idea. Thankfully being in a greenhouse I don't have to worry about birds and critters seeing them ripen before I do. - I'll probably start posting pics on here asking if they are ready yet

Cute dog! Does she like tomatoes? Mine do, my English Pointer steals cherry tomatoes from the garden all the time. I don't mind though, its funny to watch him sneak around like I can't see him
