Hi Mark,

I have no idea where Saraev trialed his varieties. I have to do some research to find out. Perhaps Valery Popenko may know more about it. I will ask him.

a quick search shows that Saraev's varieties were trialed by other gardeners in Saint Petersburg region and Perm region (Northern Urals Mountains region). Of course, they were also grown in other areas, warmer than the two above.

Received my annual order from Tatiana safe and sound. Have to show the envelope it came in as I am sure it caught the eye of several postal folks as well as mine.
I'm thinking about sending it back to her so she can use it for my next year's order.

My husband loves stamps too, so those were an extra bonus!

Mark,

there is no magic when your Saraev tomato plants perfomes better in open ground.
Because Pavel Yakovlevich Saraev had been breeding them in quite cruel Orenburg climate (near Ural mountains) since 1930s as extremely cold tolerant and ready to set fruit early without greehouse. So they like different weather and hate pots, because there were no major trend to grow tomato in pot in USSR that times

I am at the 62nd, so just curious.
I am growing them in the garden, 0-33 worked out, so I am really curious here, they seem like a go. Of note, o-33 did better in the ground for me than it did in a pot, there is something in my dirt that they really like

Thanks Andrey, that explains why that happened.
I enjoyed 0-33, and I will know a whole lot about the others I ordered, we should see fruit on them by July. If we have another good summer I should see lots of nice tomatoes, if it is rainy we will certainly test the cold tolerant claim.

Today the tomatobase has no photos. I checked on my other computer, and it's the same.
