I'm south of you and I do not start until @ april 15, if you do start early keep them cool so you are not dealing with 2' tall transplants.

seriously? I can't remember when I started them last year...my memory is failing me. I want to say it was Valentine's day, but it might have been St. Patrick's Day, LOL. I always pot up to the bottom of the container from Jiffy Pellets to a paper cup to cut-off 1 liter bottles, and they were less than 1' (with huge root systems of course).

Well, I will be the one pulling up to the plant swap in a landscaper's truck.

I'll probably start mine on the weekend of March 6th. That way when I plant out the weekend of May 8th they will be about 9 weeks old. For me that's the right age.

Maaaannnnn!!!!

Now I feel like I need to start earlier. I've had frost on may23rd.
I have started early in the past and have been zapped by jack frost.

My seedlings are only 6" high when I plant out. I have had good luck with that but I don't get anything real early.

Hello I start mine the March 8th also. They are big by the plant trade. I did start some Cossack pine apple just to see if the seeds were okay. Got first set of leaves. Got some germanation towels going for peppers. Lots of inside time right now. talk to you all later Susan

Going to start mine around March 15 for a plant out date ( I hope ) of May 15. Depends on if the weather will behave.
