Default 2012 swap date?

We're set for May 6th. See Post #8 for time and place information.

So when are we going to set the swap date and what plants are people looking for? I've doubled the varieties I'm starting this year from 300 to 600, and have added peppers also, including some of the superhots, like 7 pot and ghost/bhuts, so give me a heads up if there is something you are looking for folks. See you in May

I was just thinking about the plant swap a week or so ago
I will be starting my plants until about 4 weeks prior to the swap. I'll post a list here as soon as I get my varieties settled. Is there a day (Saturday or Sunday) that works better for you?

Lurley,

As you may or may not remember, Susan (Barbee) ‘volunteered’ to have the CHOPTAG events at her place this year.

She and I are trying to set a date now. As soon as we finalize it I’ll post here.

600 varieties??????? What can you possibly need to swap for?

Great Susan, and you since you are from Dayton, you might be closer to go to Xenia and hop on Rte 68 south and be here in no time

Susan (Barbee) has agreed to host this year’s CHOPTAG plant swap.

It will be held on Sunday May 6th from 1 to 5 pm. For those that don’t know, Susan has a farm out in Mount Orab, Ohio. That’s about 40 miles east of downtown Cincinnati. She grows plenty of tomatoes and Pigs and gigantic pumpkins.

We’ll be gathering in Susan’s barn so weather won’t be an issue this year. It wouldn’t hurt to bring a chair. Susan thinks she has enough chairs but she says that about tomatoes too.

So bring your extra plants, seed, food and stories. While this is a CHOPTAG “tomato plant swap” event, feel free to bring any fruit, veggi or herb plants you want to off-load.

Everyone is welcome to join us. This is a family affair, so bring the kids, the parents, the grandparents and anyone else that likes tomatoes.

There is only one rule. Bring plants or bring food.

Susan lives at 17127 Minnick Rd. Mount Orab 45154. If you Google map it you’ll see it is just off Rt 68 about half way between Rts 50 and 32.

So come one, come all. Let’s make this the best CHOPTAG year ever.

I moved to Chillicothe, Ohio July 2010 from Calif and was too busy to grow that summer as I bought a cooking store(from relatives) and didn't even plant the 100+ babies I brought with me - left 300 plus 1000 Bhut Jolokias in Calif with someone.
Still trying to find out what everybody grows here I I have found a few 6-12 plant heirloom people and a bunch of hybrid growers here- I did put in about 100+ HL in this last year but all in containers because of the extended rainy season - I have seeds for a lot of varieties to choose from but interested in what you have had luck with here -

Is there a group closer to Chillicothe anywhere??

Let me know your ideas as I need to get seeds started soon if I want to make it to your outing.
Thanks
Dennis

Put me down for a Brandywine Quisenbury please
I wont be starting mine for a couple of weeks or so. You know how big my plants are so I'm pushing things back another week.

Dennis, I am about 1 hour 15 mins west of you across Rte 50. I go to Chillicothe every fall for the giant pumpkin weigh off. It's a nice scenic drive and I hope you can make it
