This is JD's Special C-Tex, 23.4 ounces. The biggest tomato this summer.

I planted my tomatoes later this year than the last two years by 3 weeks. Winter was cold and long. The temperature during the month of July is lower than the average. My black tomatoes like it hot. The taste is not what it is usually. It is at 7 or 8. Some plants are doing great, setting many good size maters. So far we picked 35 pounds.
I have 4 plants that got sick and was pulled: Sandul Moldovan, Amazon Chocolate, Sara, and Peg’s Round Orange. Peg’s Round Orange was loaded with green tomatoes (52 ounces). I harvested them and sampling once they ripen. I like the taste. Will give it a chance next year again.
I will not grow Mortgage Lifter. Two years in a row not impressed with taste or production. Either my seeds are not good or this tomato does not like me.
Which Mortgage Lifter?
Tania's lists 17.http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Mortgage_Lifter
Estler's was so much better than plain old ML in my garden conditions, and they were grown side by side.

I am not sure which ML. How is the taste for you?

I love Mortgage Lifter, Halladays strain. Great tomato taste, IMHO.

Picked 50 ounces of Black Master tomatoes. Ranging from 9.9 to 4.6 ounces.
Last year in taste competition it was 10. We tasted it today and it is only 8.
I blame the low 80 temperature. Not enough heat.

Hey, Ella! It looks like you are getting some really good sized 'maters this year, good for you!

I was wondering what your opinion was on the Berkeley Tie-Dye Heart, since you are geographically pretty close to where I am. It is on my maybe list for next year (along with Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye) so I would love your opinion on the taste/production

Kelli, I only picked two Berkeley Tie-Dye Hearts. Taste was sweeter than Brad's Black Heart. The plant has quiet few medium size tomatoes. Has some leaf issues (not sure but dry leafs and some stems too). Tomatoes do look gorgeous.
Below are the pictures of Brad's Black Heart and Berkeley Tie-Dye Heart.
Brad's Black Heart is great for salsa. Very meaty and productive.

My cucumbers are getting Gray mold on their leafs. Gotta spray them with baking soda and buttermilk.

Claude Brown’s Y. Giant is still growing. I just can't believe it. Two giants on the same truss.
