Cowboy candy and candied peppers have both been around a long time.

Cole, those peppers are very pretty!

YEP!! The last market was the first time we offered Candied Jalapenos and people went crazy over them. The mixed red and green sold out first then the others.

Went out to garden to pick a few seed peppers I need and couldn't tell the difference between Yatsafusa, Takanotsume, and Santaka they pretty well look/grow the same. Haven't tried to figure out which is hottest yet...

Yatsafusa

Takanotsume

Santaka

Glad the clothespin labels held up!

Isn't Santaka the one that was aka "Japone" (probably 'Japanese' pepper)? So at least two of them could actually be the same or closely related pepper? (It does look identical to Takanotsume in the pictures! Yatsafusa looks like a somewhat longer pepper. )

These plants are all crazy pretty. I love it when peppers point to the sky. Cole's Chile Conga is another one...

I just cut the peppers off the big Guajillo plant in my living room and put the poor thing outdoors. I will miss the plant but don't want to see another aphid for a long time. I have a couple of peppers left in the basement, where aphids did not get in... fingers crossed..

Santaka grows a little different, it grows in "clumps" you can snip a branch off with 10-12 peppers on it, the others are a pain to pickl

It has to be the very first thing you eat in the morning before any coffee or anything.
Best done in bed before you even get up.

These are a few peppers we brought home from market on Saturday. It was a rainy market with few customers. Still, peppers are hard to sell in late summer, because everyone else has them. There's five peppers in this pic, about four of these would be in a quart box for $2, to give you an idea of how low the prices are.

I think these are King Arthur and Giant Marconi.
