Dollar store mini-blinds cut to about 4” lengths, written on with Sharpie or pencil. For tags I’ll reuse year after year, I laser print on vinyl labels (from online labels.com) and just stick them on the mini-blind tags. Or, for labels written with sharpie that will go into the garden, I write on both sides, and maybe even double up to cover one side, so if (when) the exposed side fades, I can still find out what I’ve got.

I did a test on Sharpie written on mini blind tag last year and nailed it a place that got full sun all day , all summer.
IT FADED OUT COMPLETELY.
However , similar tags in the shade of plants remained fully readable.
