Default 3 gallon Tomatoes Your Top 3 for 2015

I would like to hear of your proverbial best varieties of 3 gallon container Tomatoes .

the "best 3 " (if you can ).

I will leave it rather open why you think it is the best .

of course it can be ..the plant just looks healthy and vigorous and disease free

"happy " in a 3 gallon container . The high yield , the flavour , etc. etc.

It might change from year to year ....

This Year my 3 gallon Winners are

Mano
Nevsky
Yaponski karlik

I think I have always had luck in 3 gallon format with

Silvery Fir
Sophie's, choice

This year
Cyril's Choice is most interesting as well !
Pipo

What is outstanding for you this year in 3 gallons ??

Last year, my 3 gallon favs (for flavor) were:

Russian Cherry
Jagodka
Pipo

I'm growing them all again, so I'll know soon if they are still good.

1- Hahms Gelbe T
Absolutly astounding. Standing about 14", was first to fruit. It has tw ripe ones and many smaller green one on the way and keeps flowering and setting. It is a little mean tomato machine.

2- Pink Heart : Just setting, lots of flowers.
3- Purple Passion: D I T T O

I made a mistake. The name is "Dwarf Purple Heart"
It is one of the Dwarf Project varieties just introduce recently.
There is not much info on it yet.
Here is a description on SSS

Quote:
This is a Dwarf Tomato Project release. “The vigorous dwarf regular leaf plants are among the most spreading and branching of the dwarf varieties. Producing heavy yields of medium to medium large sized (6-16 ounces) heart shaped purple tomatoes, Dwarf Purple Heart has delicious deep crimson flesh with a well-balanced flavor. This variety originated with a cross between Dwarf Wild Fred and Brad’s Black Heart made by Vince Lavallo and was named by him

..
wow ...I agree with Hahm's gelbe as a winner ....I even grow it in 2 gallons ..

but whhhaaaat ....... Dwarf purple heart as a 3 gallon winner ......

wow ! I have the seeds to cue already for next year ...I liked the idea of it .....

but I would be absolutely amazed to discover it was also a 3 gallon winner and adaptable to that container size format .....Keep us updated on that one !

I just got Lucky Leprechaun seeds as I heard that it also was good with 3 gallon format .

These are the 5 I picked for "this year"

under the new thread of the 3 gallon challenge 2018 :

1)Yaponski Karlik
2) Budai Torpe
3)sophie's Choice
4)Fuzzy Wuzzy
5) Gold Nugget

since 2015 Yaponskiy Karlik is a confirmed favorite for me .

I tried Budai Torpe last year in the flexibility treatment ...and it impressed!

even in a 2 gallon it produced (would not recommend that size of course).

But 3 /5/7 gallons were great.

I have not tried any of those that you listed BB.

I have grown (in 3 gallon containers)

Jagodka (earliest)
Pipo
Russian Cherry

The above were all good and productive compact early red cherries, but I was looking for something with even more taste.

Cyril's Choice

A disappointment in both taste and productivity. Perhaps I expected too much from this variety.

BB When you grow Maglia Rosa, don't let her wispy leaves fool you into overwatering her .

I am giving Cyril's Choice another try this year and give it a best V.I.P treatment to see if the potential is realized ......

I am wondering also if ..Puck Tomato would produce moderately in a 3 gallon as well ..
