Default Tomato discussion (in French)

I recently discovered

http://www.aujardin.org

and they have a tomato discussion forum (Au Jardin Gourmand/Aux Tomates). It's interesting to see which are the "hot" varieties in France.

It's powered by the same BBS software as this site.
Whether Aujardin.org was created by French-speaking refugees from the other place is open to speculation.

That looks like a HUGE forum - 13,761 members!

I'm Canadian, but know very little french... it's too bad I quit taking it after a less-than-great teacher turned me off after grade 10. Who would have known that that decision would have prevented me from reading all those tomato posts all these years later .

It's too bad there isn't an english version

You could use the babelfish website, you can translate a whole web page at a time, it's pretty cool. It's enough to give you a good understanding of what they're saying! http://babelfish.altavista.com/translate.dyn

Well, I took 4 years of French and still can't read it all, lol. I'll have to have it translated too.

Who knew that 13000 French people had the time to write about tomatoes? Here I thought that they spent all of their time rioting.

At least my french is still good enough to understand the above post.
I was amazed at the size of the site too. I can still comprehend most of it, just doubt I could respond very quickly...

That's neat! I could understand some of it; just enough to realize that they were having pretty much the same conversations that we do here. I had to "Babelfish" to get a clearer idea of what was said.

I wish I understood it better, but I only have high school French (and whatever I pick up from product labels.) My mother is Acadian (distant relatives of the Cajuns) and spoke only French until she started school, but I didn't inherit any of it from her.

Cornue des Andes is a very popular variety in France.
