Um, no recipe for me, but I left a few down in the holes, for, you know, fertilizer. And I had a dog that used to eat them before I could get to him...but I wouldn't say he had discriminating taste (gulp down first, wonder what it was afterwards)

We (Grungy does the initial seeding) sort of go the middle route for container size - - - 16 oz plastic beer glasses in plastic lined boxes, transplanted only once to the soil. Careful tap out from the glasses of the usually rootbound plants, and they never know they've changed residence. Average yield per plant over our whole garden runs over 15 lbs even in a cool year.
