Thanks again for the information. I am new to the heirloom tomato world so all the information that I can gather the better I will be.

For my first try at it I am growing 19 different varieties plus four unknowns from a variety pack given to me by my neighbor. I started some from seed and ordered plants from www.selectedplants.com. Darrel Jones has been very helpful. I am planting most of my tomatoes in EarthTainers, some in GrowBoxes, and a few in raised beds.

By the end of this summer I should have a better idea about what tomatoes that I like? How the different planting methods work, what plants work best in our growing area, etc, I have already learned that starting tomatoes from seed is not that difficult. You just have to stay on top of the situation and pay attention to the tomatoes.

Have a great summer!

You mean after your first 20-some out of 3000+ varieties?

After a few years of seed buying/trading/etc, the hard part
is exercising the willpower to reserve a few spots each year
for those that you already know that you like and that produce
well in your area, despite the 100 or more varieties that
sounded irresistible that you have seeds for that you have not
tried yet.

Some good places to look up variety information:

This is certainly a good site for learning about tomatoes, both the
tomatoes themselves and how to grow them. Best of luck with your crop.
