Selling seedlings for resale

I grow Tomato seedlings and sell directly to gardners. I was thinking of expanding my business and selling to local nurseries. The usually sell similar products to mine for $3 per plant. I was curoius as to what they might be paying for them. I'd like to get a fair price and don't have a clue where to start. The nurseries I'm thinking of are established family owned businesses (non franchise) if that makes any difference.

Bob HEB is selling some really nice plants for 1.50 a piece right now.
Many are heirloom type tomatoes.

You can bet they are getting at least a 30% markup on them.

Most nurseries require that the plants they buy have been inspected and are certified virus and pest free. This is something you'll want to check on first before you make any further plans.

Yes you are right.
At least 30 years ago I checked into it and they said you had to get a growers license or growers license or something.

There might have even been a test you had to take not for sure.

Illinois doesn't make me have a license; they call it a "nursery man's" license, and only tree nurseries who overwinter stock are subject to licensing. It does seem silly to me to regulate tomato plant sales. Even if you were a evil villain mastermind trying to wipe out the world's tomatoes with your trojan horse plants, I don't think you would get very far.
