I am wondering if it is the heat that is causing the early ripening of the tomatoes or what.
Even some of the pinks are doing it.
In good faith I cannot name the tomato anything but tomato.
I cant even call it Hillbilly because it is an assumption that a label was moved or what ever.
What ever it is it is highly susceptible to sun scald.
Now I have two mystery tomato plants in the garden.

Folks I am sitting on a passel of ripe tomatoes now.
And as always every year I make a big hamburger in celebration using the tomatoes.

Off to the store for ground chuck buns lettuce and ruffles potato chips.

I was considering it and your comment talked me into it.
I have homemade pancetta but it isn't conducive to cooking because cooking concentrates the salt too much, best eaten raw.

So I got some thick sliced apple wood smoke bacon.

Didn't get the potato chips and instead will have carrot sticks, a healthy alternative.

I have a nice little crop of baby Mortgage lifters growing in one of the containers.
Might as well try to push them through the winter.

Babies grow big fast. Bet you could get a couple Mortgage Lifter maters over the winter.

I can see it happening. Better yet, your enthusiasm is more important to me. So how tall are these baby Mortgage Lifters?

I've wanted to overwinter tomato plants, and I have a container of most likely stunted Japanese Pink Cherry plants. It rained so much in September that they are most likely culls. I don't like giving up.

If the baby Mortgage Lifters are really small, then maybe I could start some new seeds tomorrow? Why not try? I will ask in a new thread.

I separated the plants and gave them all a good dose of 13-13-13 and then it rained.
We shall see if I can grow another tomato this year.
