Default Dry(Refried/Chilli) pole bean recommendations

I would like some recommendations for dry pole bean varieties.

I plan on using the beans in chili soup and as refried beans. Maybe I need two varieties?

What are some good types you have had luck with for these uses?

How about "True Red Cranberry Pole"? Could I use "Rattlesnake" for a dry/refried bean?

thanks,
Dean
