Anyone growing 7 pot peppers?
Just got my seeds planted today. Cant wait to savor those seven pots! Tried seven pot Jonah last year and loved that distinct flavor. This year im trying several more to compare. Think I like them better than Habs. Im not sure about the seven pot thing though. They are hot but not that hot. Anybody tried different varieties?

they are WAY hotter than habs- right there with ghost peppers... the brown 7 pots are as hot as anything i grow including the morugas.
i grew about 10 different types of 7 pot last year. the yellows have the least heat and the best flavor. |

Do you know how the yellows compare to Fatalii? What about their days to maturity?
Thanks |

Most definitely hotter than Habs but I think the idea of one for seven pots of whatever your cooking is over kill.

Taste is really what im after. I do like heat but have been disappointed by some of the nuclear hots as far as flavor. I think my idea of what is hot is changing over time. How do the ghost compare as far as flavor? I'll have to try the yellows. Got a few orange planted but i've never tried them.

in my experience all of the yellow superhots share a fruity/citrussy flavor not present in the reds. at this point i have grown yellow ghosts, yellow scorpions, yellow 7 pots. fatalii, devils tongue and datil (not really superhot but the most flavorful of them all). they do possess it in different degrees and with different flavor profiles along with it. none of them are as hot as their red counterparts. fatalii and datil probably display the characteristic to the highest degree.
i don't have the specifics on maturation but they all take seemingly forever. i start my superhots in early january for late july production. imo the red ghosts have a more smoky/earthy flavor than the yellows. the yellows are less hot, more citrussy, and not nearly as productive. |

i'm sure not an expert on this but in my limited experience with really hot and super hots is the hotter the pepper the less flavor. i think the reason is the burn is so intense it wipes out any flavor. i'll eat fataliis but prefer long red slim cayenne or tabasco, at least i can taste them and they have a fair amount of heat... want more heat add more pepper vs a hotter pepper.
