Default Another What Is It ?

I had forgotten all about these plants. They grow at least 15' tall. The trunks are smaller around than a 12 oz. cola can. They smell like honeysuckle - only sweeter. I think they came up wild many years ago. I'm going to try to get some started from cuttings.

The flowers and scent description sound alot like jasmine. If the last picture is the trunk of it then its definitely not jasmine.

It is Ligustrum. Usually planted as a hedge but they get huge ( mine is about 20 feet) several varieties on the market. It is just finishing blooming in Texas Zone 9

If it had 5 petals instead of 4 it would have been some sort of sweet olive.

That is what it is. Thank you Hoe Farmer.

I have four 6" cuttings in water jars and six cuttings in solo cups - half Pro Mix half Potting Mix. They'll make a beautiful looking and scented background behind our newest garden.
