Hi Sue, I would suggest one to three inches depending on the size of your pot. Next time you visit a garden center check out the containers and size up the drainage holes then compare to the pots you already own. I used a round drill bit on my plastic pots and it worked great.

Any end of the season updates on the Plant Warrior pots? I want to hear of huge productions! Actually, any suggestions would be great. I did buy the pots to use next season and would also be interested in the holey cones to retrofit my old 5 gallon pots.

Hi Sue, I've experienced great success...tomatoes were abundant (describes it best!) and very tasty. Also experienced severe drought this summer but all plants in my containers are huge and healthy, even my roses. As you know, I'm working with the Plant Warrior company now and we've changed the name of the holey cone to The Aerator! We're introducing all four sizes through garden centers only in 2012...check out the new design, I think you'll like it.

I'll send pictures next week when I get back to the garden.

Jdmfish, any updates? I'd love to see how these worked for you. Thanks for letting us know about the pots.

Miller, how often do you water? Would love to see pictures.

Hi Goldie, I water as normal at first and I noticed the plants required less as they matured. Once the roots reached the aerator the tomato plant began to grow taller and stronger...and I couldn't believe how many tomato's I harvested! It was great, canning almost complete for my winter storage. Still traveling for work...but should be home soon to send pictures. You can also check out the aerator on the website for ideas on what to plant.

How are the tomato plants planted? I plant deeper so do you place the root ball on top of the aerator after filling the pot? I didn't get any instructions with my pots.
