Default Nice blossom!

I have a sport potato plant growing in my main garden (from compost) and "HAD" to take a picture of this blossom. Wish we could have this kind of flower on a tomato plant (have if we can get PL why not flowers???)

If this link works you will see a shot of my potato variety PAINT JAR. This tall proud potato is going to be a great grandma when I extract seed from its grand daughter -MULE SKINNER BLUES- berries next month.

I wish!

I can get tomatoes to produce more flowers, more on the ends of the plants as in multiflora types, with NC 2C ms-10 (male sterile introgressions), and so on, but the color variation of potatoes cannot be beat.

This is one of my best times of the year since I am in the tail end of my potato crossings. I will take a train this afternoon going across to the other end of the state to cross between thousands of potential potato clones. The fields are 10 to twenty miles apart and I will concentrate on the seedlings grown from TPS. And on top of that I will be taking about an hour or so of video of the potatoes in bloom, talking about the potato variety by name and history as I film.

I will put the edited video in my archives, but will probably show some of them in Europe. I am hoping there will be interest in potatoes that are ever blooming, for about five months out of the year, until freezing weather.

Some of my selections can grow up to 12ft across and still be a riot of color.
