Default Tomato Preserving

OK, this does not make sense to my logical brain, but it has failed me before. Meanwhile I'll start saving ashes, lol.

The whole thing behind it are TWO things :

ONE: Prevent from rothing.
TWO: Prevent from drying/losing moisture.

But like any fruit, tomato will age internally, no matter what. Then not all tomato varieties are suitable for preserving. For example if a variety has a short shelf life you cannot preserve it for a long time. But to the contrary varieties like "Long Keeper" are much easier and practical to preserve as fresh tomato.
You can do a few things to prevent rotting:

ONE: Try not to bruise while picking and afterwards.
TWO: disinfect and fully air dry !

I thing many dusting might work, like starch, flour, baby powder. All it does to provide a coat that seals.
In the old world, before refrigeration they preserved melons in broken wheat straw.
