Is Lebanese the same as Omar's Lebanese?

I got a variety called Lebanese in a trade, and I assumed it was Omar's Lebanese as I could not find it on the internet. I also looked in this year's SSE yearbook and couldn't find an entry for Lebanese. Can anyone enlighten me---are these 2 separate varieties or was the trader abbreviating? (I can't remember who I got it from last year or I would just ask them.)

I introduced the variety Omar's Lebanese and I've not seen it being abbreviated just as Lebanese.

I checked some earlier SSE Yearbooks and do see a red called Lebanon.

Since you can't contact who you got it from to check out the name I guess all you can do is to grow it out and see what you get.

The problem is, even if you get an indet RL large pink, you still can't say for sure it's Omar's Lebanese b'c there are probably hundreds of indet, RL large pink beefsteaks.

Carolyn, I'll be growing Omar's L for the first time this season and will be sharing the fruits and seeds with freinds of mine of Lebanese heritage. They are curious; from what town in the "old country" did the seeds originate ?....JJ61

JJ, Omar never told me the name of the town.

He was an adjunct teaching at the same place I was when he got word that his father in Lebanon had died. He flew back for the funeral and also to help sell the hotel they owned and one day drove up to the hilltown, as he called it, to visit their summer home. Many folks who lived in the larger cities had summer homes in the hilltowns, so he said, where it was cooler in the summer.

He knew of my interest in heirloom tomatoes and had always said when he got a chance he'd get one of his family members to get what he called a large terrific pink one for seeds for me.

And of course his father's death was not expected.

But he did surprise me by bringing back those seeds.

His name is Omar Saab and I've long since lost touch with him.

I got 'Lebanon' from Sandhill. Anyone know more about this one?
