Let me second Mischka’s welcome Lisa.

Be sure to check out the CHOPTAG forum in the new Regional Tomato Gatherings area. We hope to see you at our plant swap in May. Remember you don’t need to bring any plants, just yourself.

Mischka,

NORCATT stands for Northern California Tomato Tasting. I'm hoping to get a SOCATT going this year too.

Tom/Ken

Glad to see you could make it over.

Still looking for a few of the folks but I’m sure as soon as seed sowing time rolls around they’ll be here joining in the fun.

ha ha I was thinking about my trip to CHOPTAG..

Mrs. Bully asked how it went.."great, nice people"

What did you bring.."nothing but my seeds my tomatoes weren't ripe yet"

No, what did you bring to pass..."nothing"

Did you eat, she asked ..."please!.hell yeah I ate, the food was incredible!!..I won't need dinner if this is where this is heading"

ha ha she was miffed..I'm thinking of bringing the whole clan this year..she'll probably roast a steer to make up for my lack of social graces..

Bully, Looking forward to the roast steer. BTW when is your DATE fest? We have a CHOPTAG taste fest date already, but I can't remember when. Maybe El Presidente Jerry can look it up in his files.

I still think the CHOPTAGgers should rent an Econoline and head up to Dearborn for your fest this year. I'm pretty sure Ray would go, and probably Earl, but I'll let them speak for themselves..

Our party has a standing date of the Saturday before Labor day weekend.
so that would be the....26th of August
were 5 hours north of you guys and anything earlier and our big guys aren't ready.
I'm always out of town on Labor Day and after that it starts to get to late for Duane he starts earlier than me and is further South.
Last year my garden was in full swing at that time and his was petering out.

Ken,

I guess you were out in the kitchen eating again when we discussed the CHOPTAG dates for 2006. We were VERY mindful of the D.A.T.E. date. The last thing we wanted to do was conflict with Mrs. Bully’s birthday party.

Our Taste Fest will be held on August 19th this year.

I’ll try to get an announcement posted in the CHOPTAG forum soon so everyone can make plans.

Bad day for me, 6 May is Derby Day! I have been invited to the Derby this year and as much as I like tomatoes I probably will not make it to "CHOPTAG"event, but only time will tell! ..Spider

Thanks for the Welcome! I have marked my calendar for the swap meet and I will be there, "if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise". I do hope to be able to bring a few plants to share.

I do have a question though. Do people bring their children? I understand the event is at a park. Playground equipment nearby? I don't want to strike fear in the hearts of anybody, but I have FOUR children and they go with me everywhere... DH, too, of course! They are usually very well-behaved (DH too), but 3 hours is a lot to ask from a 3 and 5 year old and even an 8 and 10 year old (and DH, too).

Lisa,

Absolutely bring the children and the DH. There is playground equipment, hiking trails, a ball field (sometimes it’s in use), plenty of room for things like Frisbee, etc. (bring your own Frisbee)

So bring ‘em on down.

We at CHOPTAG believe “the more the merrier”. 8)

Go over to the CHOPTAG forum and look at the post announcing the Plant Swap. There is a link to the park in there. It doesn’t show a hole lot but may help.
