Beautiful photos. I miss my Barlow Jap plants this year as well as Prudence Purple. Both do very well for me in the garden as well.

Great pictures, how's the taste of Barlow Jap? I have been wondering about that one for awhile. It sure looks like you are having a good season.

now those are some Jersey tomatoes! I'm right across the bridge in PA about 30 min from the commodore barry bridge. I did the same thing with my tomato bed and covered it in plastic and got them outside mid April my plants are over 6ft tall except the Taxi, but my Taxi plants are loaded, 1 plant has over 40 fruit sets on it.
Question? When do you typically see your first non-cherry variety ready to eat? |

Ella,
Gorgeous as always! Love your lillies and your tomatoes are so big! I hope you have a wonderful season! Most of mine have only been in the ground for a couple of weeks. |

AKmark - barlow jap is a wonderful tomato with that classic pink taste. Great production and always the first of the pinks to ripen in my NJ garden. My avatar photo is a ripe barlow jap tomato.

So many people were raving about BJ, my one plant last year did not do well. It was in one of the beds that just did not want to produce or grow. I had to give it second chance in different place. Sorry you do not have it this year. Are you moving this summer or your plans have changed? Mark, I do not remember the taste, It was one tomato or so and plant was in distress. Sometimes taste is affected.

I grew okra in containers last year. It did well. Doing it again. They are soon to flower.

I haven't moved yet but it will be in the coming months down to Monmouth county. I lost my seedlings this spring. Something was up with the soil (I think) and they stopped growing so I had to give up on them. I had to go to the area supplier, who luckily has a decent selection of heirlooms, but they don't sell any of my preferences. |
