Default Ever heard of "suntastic" tomato?

Hi folks,

I received a pack of seeds in for the swap called "Suntastic" (OP). I have never heard of them and can't find any reference to this tomato in any of the databases.

Has anyone heard of this tomato? I have emailed the person that sent it in, but am still waiting for them to get back to me.

I suspect it has been mislabeled, so will need to be returned to them...but thought I'd check here first to see if anyone can offer information.

Thanks in advance.....Heather

It's a Trademarked tomato name used by Kroger grocery stores. They also use the name for their cucumbers. (it's toward the bottom of the link )

Thanks Saltmarsh. So I'm guessing it would be a hybrid. This participant may have collected seed from a grocery store hybrid tomato, so it will have to be sent back to them.

Thanks for your help

Does it actually say "(OP)" on it? (Could it have been stabilized by
someone's multi-year growout of the grocery store hybrid?)

I think you need some history on it from the person that sent it in.

It does say OP on it, but I have not yet received a response from the participant.

Suntastic is a trademark of Suntastic Hot Houses INC out of Ontario.

As for the OP of the tomato it may or may not be.

It could be simply a new name put on an old variety and trademarked.

Or a totally new hybrid.
I would think the latter as they dont seem to be in the market for selling seeds.
Where did this swap come from here or some place else?
