Has anyone used LED lights for their grow trays? Or are CFL's the way to go? I have a metroware shelf I'm going to be using, but I'm still figuring out how I'm going to have my lights set up.

I bought a 135 watt UFO style led grow light off ebay last year, and that thing did great starting seeds, but for the price I would probably stick with T5 HO fixtures.

I bought a 4 bulb T5 fixture but only need to use 2 bulbs to start seeds. I hope I am not ruining the fixture by taking 2 of the bulbs out for the time being. Does anyone know?

Sue,

Your 4 bulb sockets are in "parallel" so you've got 110 volts going to all 4 bulbs independently - no worries with powering just 2 bulbs at a time.
