I checked my soil again yesterday with some vinegar and it foamed like an A&W root beer.
My three test tomato plants I put out weren't doing anything the three lettuce plants were not as big as the ones in the back and the sugar snap peas were growing way too slow.
To remedy this I hit the beds with more vinegar twice the amount with 5-1-1 fish fertilizer and then came back and spread 10-16-10 Ammonium sulfate all over the place.
Then hit everything with fresh water.
counting the two dried up leaves on the side I cut off some of them have now put out 9 leaves.
Here is a Red Grano.

I'm growing about 3/4 of them for market.

The favas, however, are only for me. There's about 250 of them. I'm starting to plant them out on Sunday.

I just picked up two sacks of so called yellow and red pearl onions at the grocery store that were starting to sprout and planted them just to see what they would do.
If they go to seed I will save the seeds.

I have no idea what thes this really are a true pearl onion or just little bulbs of red and yellow onions.

I just went out and some of my onion plants are up to 10 leaves.
I go around and count leaves and look for new ones every day.

Some of my garlic stalks are bigger than a bottle top and putting out crazy leaves for the side of the stalk like they are trying to branch out.

With the day light hours here at 12 hours and 17 minutes these onions should start bulbing soon if the weather warms up.

It looks like the three in the tin cans are trying to because they warm up faster.

Onion Update.
Some have reached 13 leaves and the garlic is doing fantastic also.
Going to fertilize again tomorrow.
Look at that Swiss chard.

Some onions starting to bulb up.
Here is the picture and will explain in a bit.

About 3 years ago I bought 1015 Y red grano and white grano onion plants too late because I didn't know a heck of a lot about onions.
Well they grew a little and went dormant.
The next fall thay started growing again and that spring they went to seed.
Some onions I just stuck in a pile of dirt and the stayed dormant till the next year so I pulled a few up and put them in a planter along the drive and let them go to seed.
They were white grano and red grano right next to each other.
Well they had to of crossed because when these wild things sprouted some were pink.
This is one of those crossed pink onions growing I transplanted.

Yes it is.
But there is more to it than just that.
Onions are the most complicated plant I have ever grown trying to make them get big.
There is a lot of hog wash information out there you have to pick through it.
Like cutting the tops off to make them get bigger this is simply not true.
Right now I have some but not all that have 12 leaves on them and no doubt will have 13 or more.
many have 9 and 10 leaves.
Those are going to be some good sized onions.
I just hit them again today with more fertilizer.
