Default Top Sirloin - question

Is it a hybrid or not?

Google returns non-tomato-related links, for obvious reason

The only description I found was this:
"Indet. Hybrid. This new, beefy, red tomato is not yet widely available. Late to mature, but these big, flavorful fruits may be worth the wait"

..but I think I also saw it on someone's trade list at GW, just can't remember off top of my head where it was, so it must be F2 or F3 that are offered then?

My feeling is that Top Sirloin is a hybrid - I think it is one of the packet companies, Ferry Morse or Northrup King.

The person that has this variety on their tradelist has it listed as 'Top Sirloin Hybrid' (one can go to 'member services' to search trade lists). And some folks do trade their purchased hybrid seed occasionally.

I'l pretty sure it's Ferry Morse, is a hybrid and it sure isn't new for it's been around for at least 7 or more years b'c I remember a little incident about it online.

If I were back on AOL I'd do a search at the NCSU cultivar site but the only way I can get here is thru having this site be the home page for the IE that comes with Windows XP.

Found it - did a search on Google "Top Sirloin tomato" - led me to a Ferry Morse option, link is below.

Scroll down to find a description of the variety.

Tania, I love Top Sirlion! But for me it is one of the earlier large reds. And as Craig said a hybrid from Ferry Morse. Patty

Tania,

I saw Top Sirloin (Ferry Morse, F1) here at both Lowes and Home Depot. If you can't find it there, email me and I can send you a packet if either store hasn't sold out yet (which I doubt).

Thank you Patty and Papa Vic - I'll check out Home Depot (...we don't have Lowes here... I wish we had!). ALthough I don't think I saw HD in Canda carrying Ferry Morse seeds - it is all Tomson & Morgan, McKenzie, and Mr.Fothergill's... but I haven't checked their seed racks his year though.
