I'm so happy that I gambled on starting tomatoes a month early, and it hasn't been too bad, they're setting up fine.
I'm so happy my son and DIL are coming for a visit this summer, and they're coming early so it's even better that I planted tomatoes early.
I'm so happy to have nice weather in april when you can get out and do things that there wasn't time for last spring, or the spring before, or.... I did some things in the garden that have been waiting a long time. I potted up nut pines to grow them up bigger and plant them out. I weeded and mulched/fed the siberian ginseng - it survived! I'm very happy to see nice buds on it!
I'm really happy we had a winter with not much snow, and for once the snowshoe hares didn't do a lot of damage to the trees by rinding the bark when there's nothing to eat! So my trees are getting a year of grace.
I'm even happier that the garlic survived really well in spite of the wierd winter.
I'm totally stoked about my bulbils coming up, new varieties from far off lands!
I'm really delighted that my friend is still doing the farm and CSA this year although she has a part time job and a little girl nearly one year old. And I'll be going once a week to farm frolicks whether it's work and/or teaching that little one to weed or just to walk and play safely.
I'm happy you started this thread Tom, I'm really happy to know you are safe and happy! Been watching the lava flows on the news, like nothing I've ever seen or imagined. I'm happy that no one has been hurt. I have visited your beautiful state, it's a wonderful place. Stay safe! and happy...

Thank you bower,
The Big Island is in some bad shape. It is a huge producer of coffee , papaya and other fruits. I hope things calm down soon.
On a different note.
It is a very good feeling to read the stories of such a wide group of people. Only connected by our love of gardening. I thank you for your sharing. Tomatoville has been really kind to me. And the huge amount of knowledge here is more than anyone could ask for.
Again thank you and have a great summer.
Aloha, Tom

Tom
The coffee bags were made from jute. It seemed like a good idea. They actually didn't last long enough. I still think there is still value in a mesh type growing container. Grow bags are good and I am still insearch of something similar to the coffee bags.

To all,
Now is a time we begin to see the fruit of our labors. Some brought their babies home and gave them nurturing and love. Some did the same for their tiny seeds. We have all done something great. Whether it worked out how we expected or not. We are still doing something to help ourselves and mankind(ie. The neighbors). Good luck with the remainder of summer. And enjoy that sweet taste of accomplishment and learning.
Aloha,
Tom

Today I have enough maters to send a batch to the food bank.

Aloha all,
I thought it might be a good time to add a little to this thread. Winter for me was an awakening. Tomatoes grew well and I learned my limits.
Now that spring is here, well I'm back to learning..... my wonderful pepper sprouts are not what I imagined. What happened ? Well as many of you know and I am learning, things don't happen in our timeline. It seems the peppers were planted in March. What I have is Califlowers that were planted in ??? (Memory lose ) Anyway my big cheef are well and so is the russian orange. Sorry can't spell. My garden is showing life. And I hope yours is doing great also. I look forward to reading the glourious stories of you doing the things we love.
Aloha and please come visit us.
Tom
P.S. we need the tourism
