I think small seedlings are more tasty. I had a female named Poppy (along with Basil) when I had my last tomatoes here and I put up a fence but they kept getting in the garden anyway, and they never touched the tomatoes. It may have been that they didn't figure out how to get in until the tomatoes were bigger. I don't remember. Basil and new bunny haven't attempted to get in the garden. Females are more tenacious about stuff like that, and are better diggers.

I just had a similar thing happen with a tomato at the community garden. Pretty sure it was squirrels this time. I planted 9 tomato plants in my garden plot almost 2 weeks ago and nothing has happened. This week I planted some in my sister's plot (next to my plot), and the Chocolate Stripes plant was eaten down to a nub. There are quails in the community garden too, they've eaten my onions, but this seems squirrely.
