I feel your pain, Ms. Dawgs. I lost a big, beautiful Cherokee Purple 3 yrs ago, almost overnight, but it was Southern Blight...had the telltale white ring around the stem right at the soil line. I bout cried.

I poured a gallon of full strength bleach in there and let it sit overnight, then I yanked it out and burned it. Later that fall, I dug out the entire planting hole and used the dirt to fill in a low spot way out back. Then, I built a fire in the hole and kept it going for about half a day...overkill, maybe, but I was ★★★★ed! Anyway, the next Spring, I filled in with fresh dirt/compost and planted again. No recurrence...so far!

Good luck!
Jon
