I thought the appearance was pretty and unusual...orange red on top with faint yellow striping, rose pink on bottom. Maybe it liked it here in So Cal better.

Thanks for posting that Interesting photo, Coronabarb!! Without the striping, Goose Creek looks to me a bit like Eva Purple Ball.

Hi Gang, y'all are once again pickin on--while we are still picking-- beautiful delicious Goose Creek tomatoes here in Los Angeles. The new Goose Creek photo at my website is the one we picked and ate on Saturday. Try it, then decide. I think it's fabulous. Luscious. Sweet, creamy and fine. Awesome.

Hey Carolyn, you said you weren't going to diss Goose Creek or Jimmy anymore---uh--whah happened? Now you got them crowds of your fans all riled up again!! Egad! Doncha think one of these days you might actually--gulp--try it!

c'mon buckeye..I may have been a little rough with the spoiled & rotten comment but I was referring to the patent..not the tomato and I had the smile thingy in there.

"a decent tomato"

"..I had some pretty tasty tomatoes"

That's as high a praise as any bitter jaded Wolverine is capable of these days.

Laurel,

I simply stated what I know to be fact and did not diss Jimmy Williams .

There are others here who did, but they are entitled to their opinion as is true for each person.

I said there had been several threads about Goose Creek at GW and there have been.

I stated what my experience was with checking into the background of the variety, with confirmation from Andy, which I did.

I stated that Jimmy had tried to patent it and said nothing more about that , as far as I recall and didn't go back to reread it again before posting this, altho Papa Vic did post the patent application and discussed it extensively.

I said that seeds for it for you to grow plants to sell came from Jimmy. They did.

That's what I said.

And if truth to be told, if you've been following my mobility problems and upcoming neurosurgeon visit you know that I can't grow tomatoes anymore, that is, myself. And you wouldn't have suggested that I grow it.

And truth be told, if I could grow tomatoes, there are several new heirloom varieties that have been sent to me that need a look see before anything else.

Time will tell, and I'll know more after Mar 2, but the future for me is not looking good as regards gardening.

Please reread what I wrote and compare it to what some others wrote.

I stated facts and did not diss Jimmy Williams or you.

Just want you to taste it, Carolyn. You'd love it.

I know you can't garden anymore, Li'l Buddy. But you'd like this tomato. I'll send you a few in the summer.

Just think we should all kick back and be sweet. Life is short. Sarcasm is shorter.

Ps.It has no resemblence whatsoever to Eva Purple Ball.

Alas, poor Wolverine..I knew him well...sniff..sob.

Thanks Bully, think I may have gone off half-goosed there.

We all just need more tomatoes. Can we all just get more tomatoes?

Laurel,

Your description of Goose Creek sounds an awful lot like how my nemesis Gary Ibsen would describe one of his newly minted "heirlooms".

I would expect you to supply such glowing praise for Goose Creek, since you are the exclusive source for it this season. Hence, your post teeters precariously on the brink of our "posts of a blatant advertising nature" rule. (I can pick up the scent of a steaming pile of road apples from a mile away)

Default RE: Goose Creek Taste and Growth

I received a plant from Laurel this Sept. It is still going strong here in AZ. Once I backed off just a bit on the water, it began producing absolutely succulent fruit, with rich color and sweet full flavor. tastes similar to the Anna Russian in the next row.
It compares well with the Costoluto Genovese and Carmello that it lives next to. Survived a few cold nights in Phoenix, and has again set blossoms.
I am unawareof the nature of the controversy referred to in these posts, but am really impressed with the quality, durability, and flavor of Goose Creek,
Fred

Fred, did you save seeds? I can't afford to buy plants so I'm stuck with starting my own. Hope someone offers them next year.
