Gerardo, thank you. I use Real Salt from Sprouts and I really love it. I've used it for years. If you Google it you'll see why it's so good. I used to order it until I happily discovered that Sprouts carries it now.
I'm thinking that the chicken idea is good too. I know I'm low on protein. Hardly ever get it in fact.
Carolyn, thanks. Salt, I've made lentils. Ick, tasted like mud to me. Thanks though.
Welp, the lima beans did what they've done the last few times-I feel as though someone's tearing my guts out. So there goes a favorite dish. Sigh...

Lentils don't have a lot of flavor (imo) and they get mushy very quick, so they must be cooked carefully and seasoned well. and I am sure that different colors taste different. I made a pot of soup that had lentils in it last week (per a request from my daughter) and I could have cooked them a little gentler and for a bit less time. They do make a great thickener for a soup though. Then I add lots of garlic and some salt because I don't think they have much flavor, but they are very nutritious.

I make lentil salad, it is served cold.
Cook them till just done do not over cook.
Cool off and add olive or walnut oil or any oil of your choice.
Chop up fresh garlic onion and red peppers and what ever else you want to add.
add some salt and black pepper and mix up let cool in refregeratior.
If you like lemon or lime put it in it too or vinegar.
I like lime juice myself.
You can do the same with black eyed peas too.

Thanks all. I cook the beans in water, boiling and boiling, adding water as needed and when the beans are tender I lower the heat and let the beans thicken down to a thick stew. In the bowl I add chopped green onions, a honkin' glob of butter and more Real Salt than I should.

P.S. No heartburn, just feels like my guts are twisting and my stomach feels like a scraped out apple.

The first thing you need to do is soak the beans for a few hours and then rinse them.
This will help tremendously.

Another thing you can do is get the pills called beano or something like that.

Oh. I thought soaking was just to shorten cooking time. I have heard of adding a pinch of baking soda during the first boil, then changing to fresh water, but I've read that baking soda removes nutrients.

I have about half a bag, I'm going to try soaking and rinsing. Thanks!

Yep. Same here. I keep a couple cans of beans on hand just in case of needing to make dinner for others really quick...but I soak and rinse my own beans for meals.

Otherwise my stomach kills me so badly!

You can try soaking raw unroasted nuts with salted water and then roasting them yourself too to see if that helps your stomach when consuming those too.

I love spam. Great treat for the blue moon. My favorite is a tall sandwich with l,t,o, pickle, mayo, and an egg on wheat. Cheese too of course. Fine living.
