Michael, that's excellent! So far it seems to be working well for everyone. I only planted seeds a few days ago-on the "right'' dates, of course. So I have nothing to report yet.

Felt good to finally start some seeds! Don't know for sure if planting by the moon works, but it seems to work very well for me. At the very worst, it can't hurt. So my hot and sweet peppers and a few eggplants have been incubating in the furnace room at 79 degrees (just checked) since yesterday.

I will start some early tomato seeds April 1 just before the April 2 full moon at 1:15 pm, although the moon is not in a favorable sign. But I've found the day or so before the full moon is exceptional for starting any seeds no matter what sign the moon is in. It is awkward for me because the moon wanes until April 17, and the first favorable day for sowing tomatoes after the 1st isn't until April 21st. I do like younger transplants, about 6 weeks , but waiting so long to seed will give me only 5 week old transplants.

For the first time I'll be starting onion seeds, as onions were the only ingredient in my sauce and salsa I didn't raise myself last year. Interestingly, I read that onions are the exception in that the do the best if started during the fire sign, Sagittarius, in the 3rd quarter moon, which occurs the afternoon of April 6 through the 7th. So at least I'll get that one right for transplanting about May 15 in my area.
