Default Black Hungarian

I have 8 plants that are pumping out the peppers. My question is - when should I pick them? They are about 2 1/2" long, and fully purple/black in colour (no green blush or anything). Are they ready now, or should I wait? I picked one & ate it - flesh was on the thin side & fairly mild, but the seeds were pretty hot! They've been in the ground since June 7th, and they started flowering around the end of June. Thanks.

I usually try to wait until they're red. Isn't it a pretty pepper?

Thanks - red, eh? I must have missed that part ! Well, that makes things easier. The photo link to the Black Hungarian does not look like my plants - the fruit hangs down on the plants that I have ...
