Perhaps the Realtor can provide information of the status of home contents, or the company that assisted in preparing the home for market. - Lisa

She either made arrangements for the collection to be preserved or she didn't. At this point I think all we can do is wait and see if word of it surfaces within the tomato growing community. If nothing is ever heard about her collection again, then we know it's likely gone.
Either way, it's out of our hands. |

Carolyn's Collections live in the hands of thousands of gardeners and growers.
The best has been preserved and will continue on as a living legacy.

I know Farmer Shawn did grow outs for Carolyn, and trying to recall the other two who also did grow outs for her. FarmerShawn had said something about making a seed offer from Carolyns' seeds that he has, I think.

Carolyn was not a tomato breeder, but wrote a beautiful priestess (I never read it) and took care of the promotion and cultivation of many new tomato varieties. According to Tatiana´s TOMATObase there are more than one hundred such varieties. Yes, the best has been preserved and will continue to be a living legacy. But a slowly dying legacy. What can Tomatovillans do? Concentrate the seeds of all these varieties in one place. How to do it? We need to find someone who will be willing to receive seed shipments at herself postal address, sort them and control which seeds he already have and which ones are still needed. I would like to give my address, but sending seeds would not be without problems and probably would be somewhat more expensive than US postage. That would be the first phase of the project. Where this small gene bank will be and how the seeds would be restored would be decided subsequently. I think the Tomatovillans, who have carried out even more demanding projects, can help preserve all the varieties Carolyn has brought us.

That is a wonderful idea for a tribute to Carolyn ! Some one who has the room and time, space in their freezer would be good, too. Maybe create a repository where seed can be sent out and returned as well?

I'm working on the offer, after a wonderful holiday break with lots of seldom-seen family. I have two years of growouts, and older seeds left from the last offer(s). All will be available, and some are darn nice tomatoes! Coming soon...!
