I normally use a decent solid fertilizer such as tomatotone at planting and then have used fish emulsion, seaweed and medina hasta grow during the season.
I have experimented with foxfire farms tiger bloom and grow big. Only use that if you want a pet monster. Seriously some mutant growth stimulaters.

I use bone meal, compost and kelp fresh or dry every year. Sometimes had chicken manure pellets as well, and I think it improved the yield.
Still looking for the most ideal fert to apply to my container plants later in the season. Maybe try the fish emulsion and blackstrap molasses this time. Top dressing with dry ferts makes the roots go crazy on the surface.

When I plant I add bone meal and foxfarm tomato fertilizer to the hole. I didn't usually need to do much after that unless they start looking sort of sad. Then I use either fish emulsion or fox farm grow big (if it's early enough in the season).

Our tomato plants always do well after a layer of steer compost is added! There are advantages of raising your own beef!

Shule, this is my first year trying it. I drove to Gastonia NC (about 1 hour) to a farm with a rabbitry. I found it on Craigslist. She gave me a shovel, two Hefty bags, and I came back down I-85 with rabbit poo wafting about the car interior. 10 bucks! My plants have NEVER looked so lush, green and bursting with blossoms and fruit!!

I have black cow compost in my container mix, I am using Urban Farms Vegetable food. I though I had ordered Texas Tomato Food years ago but it's working great for my garden, especially since I have a small one and lots of different things to feed. I am happy with it.

Aquarium water works great for my outdoor plants. I add neorines fish hydrosalate/ kelp extract, humic acid, and sugars. I also add inoculants.

main thing is a compost topping at the first of season, then plant tone and some others this year I got in a Wal-Mart clearance LY.

my soil test had low N, so got some "BIG NITRO" from Dr. Earth and applied LW - that stuff STINKS like a dead skunk in the middle of the road (worse than my foot). My boxer-mix helped dig it in post application - drover her nutzo.

I put a little bit of Bio-Tone and Mater Magic in the holes, and will use Texas Tomato Food later in the season. The beds have a small amount of Tomato-Tone mixed in, along with mushroom compost. (Other than the TTF and compost, I'm using whatever odds and ends I bought on clearance back in September.)

I hear 'ya, My Foot Smells -- I used two Dr. Earth products last year (one liquid, one granular); both stunk to high heaven and I swore off that brand.
