Default End of July

It is the end of July and I have reached the point of tomato saturation. I have given away as many as I can, but they still keep coming. They are relentless. I just had to buy the Texas Tomato Food. DW wants her kitchen counter back.

Tomorrow morning, most of these will go to the food pantry at Church.

The big one on the tray is Dester. The biggest yellow is Dr. Wyche, the others are KBX and Yellow Brandywine. Most of the other big pinks are either Cowlick or Sudduth. Also pictured are Cherokee Purple, Cherokee Chocolate, Black Krim, Indian Stripe, Magiqo, Red Branywine and Juanne Flamme.

There is also a lone Costoluto Genovese in the upper left corner of the tray. There must be 5 dozen more ripe on the vine that I am afraid to bring in. Not to mention the Opalka. Those will go straight to the food mill this weekend.

Ha ha ha! Trust me, a good problem to have! I had it too! I canned, I made sauce and froze it, I dried them. All over the kitchen counters, the dining room buffet. No casserole dishes or big bowls left for anything else. Tomatoes everywhere. It won't last forever. Enjoy!

Mine are all hanging out in the living room this year. I have two bowls of slicers on the TV stand--one full of ready to eat fruit and the other over flowing with still partly green ones; a huge tray of still partly green pastes on the coffee table; a bowl of just about ready to can pastes on the sub woofer; and a large Wes and Giant Belgium on the mantle. My kitchen window sill is over crowded with containers of fermenting seeds, and the dining room table is covered with paper plates of drying seeds.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year...!"
