Indeed it is another great name, for a gorgeous tomato! I love your new idea for a theme for your Dad as well. (And what better reason to do some more exciting crosses!! )
Karen, I hope Santa brought you what you wanted for your new garden and settle in for a happy growout and a wonderful year in 2017. Hope you do squeak in two generations! I guess you'll be starting soon for that!

Well I think it's worth a try, lots could go wrong with that plan and much will depend on the weather since I don't have a greenhouse anymore
Here's to stability I. 2017!
I have already made the cross for the next project, some beautiful cowboy beefsteaks in the F2 to choose from. Will see if I have enough room this year, not sure because I also will be growing the KARMAS and they are a priority.
I follow your projects and I hope 2017 is a great year for you! Love the looks of your early blacks.
Have a great season and I will watch for your updates
Karen

F5 droopy darlings ready to plant and starting to bud. Planted March 21. This is the green and pink bicolour heart. The wispy look diminishes as they fill out but as seedlings you can see the longer internodes on tall seedlings and downward dropping foliage. I can see this will be heart shaped before they even bloom. My Slightly "wispy" potato leaf hearts.

How cool is that! Good reason for a PL to droopy!

I love wispies, both RL and PL! I think they look more interesting and graceful than the sturdy leafed tomatoes, plus better sunlight penetration and less pruning needed. Branches less apt to break when I bend them for weaving into my cattle panel support. Here's hoping you will stabilize your green and pink bicolour heart soon!

True colours F5
Seeded march 21, long buds typical in my potato leaf hearts. This will be the earliest again I believe, it's a delicious and beautiful green and pink bicolour heart.

And 2017 looks like a banner year so far... here`s a sneak peak at my pride and joy, my F5 tricolour PL heart `True Colors`
A couple of weeks away from the first ripe one expected mid july-ish. The shape continues consistent broad rounded hearts, smooth and glossy, small stem end and tiny blossom scar.
The others are coming along too. will post pics aplenty once I have some ripe ones to show. These are the earliest among my PL hearts, same as last year.

Thank you! I am quite proud of them, looking forward to the first ripe one. They tasted wonderful last year

Yeah that is a gorgeous shape, and you're lucky to find it so stable. I have an F5 heart that I ended up growing a lot of this year (more than intended by seed mixup!) and there is a ton of shape variation that I didn't expect. Jealous!

So interesting how genetics work. I have grown some hearts that are known to be stable such as strawberry wedge 1884 and work release paste that gave me hearts of various shapes on the same plant so it might be that way with yours too.
