Default air drying garlic?

i used 1/2 a clove yesterday at 2pm and left the other half on the counter. at 7 am this morning it showed pretty good signs of dehydrating. so i'm wondering if anyone ever just thinly slices garlic, puts it on a plate and lets the warm air dry it? it's too humid in summer to do this but now it is really warm in here thanks to the woodstove. any hints or tips from experience?

thanks.

If you could put it on something like clean plastic windowscreen (elevated) it would speed up the process. Sticking might be as problem on a flat solid surface considering how badly garlic sticks to my knives.

Winter air drying is pretty effective. I used it several times for quartered habanero peppers before I got my dehydrator. It only took a few days for the pepper pieces to become crispy dry.

If you have an older oven with a pilot light, I find it will dry peppers and garlic quite nicely. Just the pilot light brings my oven to a temperature of about 105F. Takes a few days, but is very easy.

electric range. yeah i bet the sticking will be a problem but i'll see. they are on a smooth saucer so maybe the paring knife will pop them off, we'll see. i should break down and buy a dehydrator but i'm so frugal i just can't see it really necessary tho it would be nice. i'm not a gadget person and i hate to have stuff sitting around. sounds like a new thread maybe starting!
