We're getting some rain and more the next two days but I am encouraged by how my 80 plants look so far. Some bad leaves on the bottom but its easy to see that most have "grabbed hold". Bad frost three days ago but no damage after I washed them off pre sun. I have 78 in the ground and a C Purple and a Celebrity started in 18 gal totes. 8 diff cultivars. 5 beefsteak and 3 cherries. Hope to learn how to post some pics this yr.

The world has gotten better (though as per Carolyn K you'd never know it). For instances of the past, just watch the HBO series Rome (though it's pretty sanitized) or the current series The Vikings.

Looks like the switch is getting flipped next week. Daytime highs in the 50s through Monday; 70s and 80s for the rest of the week.

We got a little over 2" of rain yesterday and the ground swallowed most of it. I hope the folks suffering from drought and wildfires in Georgia and Florida get some relief soon.

You just forget about the different weather and planting times over the years.

I've gardened in MD, then KY, then WI, and now in VA. It's only my second full year back to growing in Virginia. My first tomatoes went out in Walls of Water on 3/26 - no frost since that date!

I remember trying to get a lot of my plants out in WI on Mother's Day.

I never realized that hail was such a problem in Colorado! I feel for you. And of course the flooding along the Mississippi and the rivers that feed it. The late frosts in the north and northeast! Hang in there and be safe!

Summer - when it finally came - was such a celebration in WI though! In Virginia, its largely something to be endured and escaped when the humid 90s and 100s appear.

Forecast is dry through the end of the month mostly 70's and lows 40's. This will break a three year run of wet and cool/cold May's. I have plenty ready and I'll be planting out more and earlier than I'd hoped.

Looks like ours flipped last week here in Indy, trouble for me is i now have to harden off further - they got sunburned so i can't put them in to further sunburn them ugh!
Hope all are getting theirs in the ground with no damage etc............

Is there any way to get your plants in the ground but give them some shade?

It went from cloudy and cool to 90s and sun a few weeks back. Everything was getting burnt but I covered some rows with sheets during mid day, propped up dried pampas grass plumes to shield others, and hung old t-shirts on CRW cages for others until they hardened off. (I'm sure the neighbors loved the look!)

. We loved the city back then. We were fascinated by the place Downtown where the lights turn green and its pedestrian only walk and you can cross any direction!. Even corner to corner

Looks like we are heading to some rain, tonight and tomorrow. The forecast calls it :
Thunderstorm. We need a good soaking rain. But I don't like the "storm" part of it.
But WNW 8 mph winds should be ok.
My rain gauge is ready to measure.

Long-term forecast for me says that we are done with cold weather. It will soon be in at least the 80s every day and a low in the 60s at night. That's tomato weather.

Same here Cole, We got 9.5" rain in last 8 days - now looks clear and nearly 80 for the next week. I started putting indeterminate's out back today(like rebel yell, big cheef, porterhouse, olive hill etc) will plant the 30 dwarfs in the raised bed as soon as the sunburn is gone and the rest around the house as time permits. Wife and I are fighting over open ground

but you know it is not funny
