ready for seminars

On the way to an exciting afternoon of Talking Tomato at a greenhouse/nursery in the next county west. For the tomato growing talk I take my two main reference books.

The second discussion will be a question/answer session on general gardening. For that I will take my Master Gardener Handbook and iPad and my wife who will answer most of the difficult questions.

It is also delivery day for several flats of tomatoes.

I would love to attend something like that. This is only my 4th year of gardening and am hooked on tomatoes, but know very little.

Great stuff Paul! I hope it went well - fill us in!

I am finding nothing more energizing - and educational - than engaging people in tomato talk - we all learn from each other. (and yes, it is draining and exhausting but so, so worth it!)

I am accumulating a really big collection of Power Point presentations to use - I never want to give the same one twice, so find myself tweaking them right up to an hour before they happen!)

Everything went well, as it always does with a group of fellow gardeners. I always begin presentations telling the group that there many ways to garden and my way is my opinion and that can be changed easily. There were lots of questions and varying methods discussed. My presentations even change as we get going to match what the audience is interested in. We even talked about topics other than....gasp...tomatoes.

That's an excellent approach - my version is "I am going to share some of thing things I've learned and do, and I hope you all share with me your approaches - that way we all can improve and expand our gardening knowledge". The imprecision of gardening and huge number of variables make it endlessly fascinating!
