Default Apache type Watermelon

Someone over at Idigmygarden mentioned a company run by one of the Parks family called GEO seeds. When I did a search nothing came up but several sites had a poster entitled "Apache Type Watermelon Planted from Seeds Found in an Indian Cave. "

This was a very strange looking watermelon and I asked over there if anyone knew anthing about it.

Of course, the know it all, zman, responded that it was an "extinct" snake muskmelon. Since they don't look ANYTHING alike I would like to know what this really is.

Any ideas.
