Hi, Dee. I think the ones Sue and I are growing are also labeled as Altaiskiy Oranzhevyi, in fact I'm just about positive of that. I was just too lazy the look up the real spelling! Sue shared seeds with me, and I don't remember, or maybe never knew, her source. In any case, I still have only two, or possibly three, little tomatoes. The jury is still out on whether I'll give this variety a second chance in another season.

Hi Dee,
Yes I have a bunch of F1’s growing from new crosses but some of those are just some seedlings I Wes given as a scraggly bunch of two leader seedlings I couldn’t throw out so I potted them up to bring to work to give away. They are some super early Russian tomato from a Ukrainian frien

Some of the new F3 beefsteaks are doing well. Excited to see what colours they are, if they are similar to the F2 they came from

Among them should be several colours, chocolate, clear yellow, pink bright red, bicolour.
At least I think so based on the F2’s
Some are RL some are PL
Some from my Ludmilla pink heart x captain lucky cross that produced the true north hearts and some are from my cross of Delicious x captain lucky which is where the Red and brown ( yellow epi) are coming from

Hi Dee,
My seeds came from Tania also. I have now purchased some from the Ukraine and Croatia for next season. I'll find the early Altaiskiy Oranzhevyi! Stubborn like that...

Oh good! Next year I will hope to hear you had success at last. It would be lovely to have an early large orange!

Hi Karen O,

We have crossed paths several times. I am in Mcminnville Oregon and have a similar growing season. First time growing tomatoes in Pacific Northwest. Am growing my tomatoes in the ground and transplanted them at the beginning of June.

It seems the season is really late. My question is on interminate varieties I am thinking I am going to have ripening problems. Do you turn the water off or prune the tops at a certain date. I think the end of the season here is going to be early October when the rains and frost begin.

Thx

Hi again
I think it’s too early to know, it’s been a cool spring but the season is really just starting for us here with easily at least another 8-10 weeks of good growingvahead barring any big disease issues.
I don’t generally plant to top my plants or stop watering as long as there is decent weather I just let my plants do their thing. I am a gardener, not a commercial farmer or producer and I plant way more tomatoes than I need so generally by the end of September I am wishing it would snow so I can stop canning. Lol

Here’s the pot of the F3 tumblers originally from the F1 hybrid tumbler
“ Terrenzo”
The original Seeds were saved by my mother who is pretty proud that her seeds are turning out something like this 2 years later
Approx 1 meter across there are three plants in this 7 gallon pot.
